Penzance are delighted to announce that prolific South West Peninsula League striker Charlie Young has agreed to sign for the Magpies for the forthcoming 2024-25 campaign.
Surrey-born Young, who has also played for Helston Athletic and Porthleven, made his name at Wendron United. Successfully converting from central midfield to striker, he plundered many goals as the Dron enjoyed a number of high finishes in the League and reached the 2022 Cornwall Senior Cup final.
A move to title chasing Liskeard Athletic last season ended with the Lux Park side being runners up to eventual champions St Austell.
On the striker's arrival, Penzance manager Mark Vercesi says: "Charlie oozes leadership qualities and has a reputation for pretty much guaranteeing goals and assists, along with his fantastic link up play I have no doubt that he will be a catalyst to propel our team forward and up the league. Signing a player of Charlie’s calibre demonstrates our lofty ambitions. I’m extremely excited he’s finally on our team rather than us having to face up against him. Charlie will be a massive player for us and no doubt will become a crowd favourite at Penlee Park."
