Jahmali Prowse plundered five first goals as Penzance Under-18s recorded a sixth straight victory to remain three points clear of RNAS Culdrose at the top of Championship West.
From a Sid Wilson pass, Fin Sharp opened the scoring before Prowse hooked home his first, from a Dan May cross. Played in by Fin Harry, the sixteen year-old, recently called into the Cornwall squad, netted his second just before the half-hour mark. Within a minute it was 4-0, Wilson converting another pinpoint May cross at the far post. After May had been fouled, Prowse completed his hat-trick from the spot then, from through passes by Sharp, he added further goals in the 35th and 39th minutes.
A more embarrassing score-line for St Day was averted by their hosts being reduced to ten men just before the break. Sharp impetuously kicked out at an opponent and received a straight red card. With a numerical disadvantage, his team-mates were nowhere near as dominant after the turnaround. Only an own-goal widened the gap slightly before Saints struck back, Ben Medlin rapping home a rebound after Harry Conti had saved his initial effort.
The visitors were also reduced to ten men just before the end. In the final minute, Prowse was denied a double hat-trick only by the woodwork, but Harry was on hand to knock home the rebound and conclude the scoring.
