The Championship West title race looks increasingly likely to go to a final game decider. As rivals Penryn Athletic were winning 2-0 at St Day, Penzance drew against currently second placed Culdrose in an exciting tussle at Penlee Park. Both the Magpies and Penryn are unbeaten having each dropped four points. The sides are due to meet in a yet-to-be-arranged fixture at Kernick.
In front of a crowd of 52 on Sunday afternoon, Penzance dominated the early stages against the Airmen. Chas Reynolds clipped a shot just wide then Logan Curnow had a fierce drive deflected behind. A deserved break-through came in the 19th minute when Dom Hodges picked out Freddie Neaum with a fine cross from the right, and the latter hammered home a sublime left-foot volley.
After the visiting keeper spilled a Curnow shot, Hodges was just unable to turn home the loose ball to double the lead. It proved costly as, after Neaum succumbed to nasty ankle injury early in the second half, Culdrose started threaten more often. Frequently hitting Penzance with fast and incisive counter attacks, they notched a deserved equaliser fifteen minutes from time through Tom Booth.
