PENZANCE U-18s 1, PENRYN ATHLETIC U-18s 1

Writer: Penzance AFCPenzance AFC

A last gasp Chas Reynolds goal rescued a draw for Penzance from a thrilling clash against title rivals Penryn Athletic in front of a big crowd under the Penlee Park lights.

The two unbeaten sides traded chances throughout an even first half. Straight after the turnaround, Deshanne Hemmings was just unable to force home a Rhy Hall through ball. Almost immediately, Penryn struck at the other end. The excellent Oscar Miles cracked a fine shot from twenty yards out that Harry Conti did well to parry, but only into the path of Carey Bateman who fired the visitors ahead.

Conti was injured effecting the save, but happily able to continue after lengthy treatment. His side pressed in search of an equaliser with both Logan Curnow and Dom Hodges going close. The leveller finally arrived in the 87th minute when a deep Freddie Neaum free-kick was flicked on to Reynolds whose looping far post header left the goalkeeper flat-footed.

Penzance goal scorer, Chas Reynolds.

The sides meet again at Kernick on Sunday (2pm) in a match which could go a long way towards deciding the destiny of the Championship West title.
