PENZANCE AFC YOUTH - WEEKLY ROUND-UP

On Sunday the Under-9 Cosmos played Newquay at Newlyn Coombe, where the Under-11 Aliens also took on Redruth United. The Under-13 Titans were beaten 1-6 at home by Grasshoppers Youth (Perranwell) whilst the Under-16 Comets travelled to Wendron United where they were narrowly defeated by the odd goal in five.

On Tuesday the Under-16 Jets were give the opportunity to play under the lights of Penlee Park, and a large crowd turned up to see them take on St Dennis Vikings in the League Cup. Ellis May fired the home side into an early lead with Jahmali Prowse added further goals either side of half-time. Running on to a fine pass by captain Charlie Palmer, Dom Scoffin got the fourth before Ryan Toon made it 5-0 in the closing stages to book Penzance a place in the semi-finals.

This Sunday the Under-11 Aliens travel to St Agnes for a league fixture whilst the other age groups have League Cup games. The Under-13 Titans and Under-14 Appollos both have home ties - against St Agnes and Threemilestone respectively. For the second successive weekend the Under-16 Comets will travel to Wendron United whilst the Under-18s take on Truro City at Godolphin Way, Newquay.

And last Saturday, Manager Ashley Waters gave Under-16 Jets defender Ashley Mead his first call-up to the first team squad at Boscawen Park against St Dennis.

Ashley was supported on the day by father Andrew and grandfather John, both well-known former first teamers.
