PAUL SMITH R.I.P.

Penzance AFC is saddened to learn of the passing of Paul Smith, a former committee man and long-time supporter of the club, particularly the Reserve team.

“Myself, Steve Miller, Henry Ramsay and the  Penzance Reserves squad would like to send our sincere heartfelt condolences to Paul Smith’s family and close friends at this difficult time,” says Manager Daz Smith. “Paul was a regular face at our fixtures, both home and away. He would regularly keep fellow supporters updated on our Facebook page with his honest opinions on matchdays and if there was a stat you wanted to know, Paul was definitely your man. A true gent and an avid Penzance Reserves fan who personally welcomed me into the club, Paul will be hugely missed by myself and all those involved with the Reserves as well as the whole local grassroots footballing community.”

Better known to many by his pseudonym “Cornish Teddy Boy” on the Cornwall Football Forum which he helped moderate, Paul was avid statistician who for many years maintained a superb website for the Cornwall Combination, a league he also served as a committee member.

At his own expense, Paul produced an excellent matchday programme for Penzance Reserve team games which he distributed free of charge and was greatly appreciated by supporters. He also recently donated an extensive programme collection to the club.

Everyone at Penlee Park sends condolences to Paul’s friends and family. Rest in Peace Paul, and thank you for all you did for our club.
