With two tournaments remaining this season, both Penzance’s Championship and League sides are in with a shot of winning their respective titles - a great effort by all the players concerned.
The latest set of matches was staged at Cornwall College in Pool last Sunday. The Magpies had a mixed bag of results in the Championship, beating a weakened Troon side 4-1 and St Agnes 6-1. But they went down to 2-1 to Dropship a match that could have opened up a four point gap, relieving pressure with only six matches left. As things stand, Penzance (39 points) are now just one ahead of Troon (38). Dropship are on 28 with Aggie on a single point.
In the League, both Penzance teams beat St Agnes 5-0. The Whites beat Troon 4-0 whereas Stripes drew 0-0 against them. Brandon Trust were defeated 9-0 by the Stripes but had a more competitive match against the Whites who won 3-1. Troon (42) lead the table by a single point from Penzance Stripes (41). Penzance Whites are on 30 points, St Agnes 11 and Brandon Trust a single point.
