BIG KICK-OFF AT HOME

The Magpies will be looking to build on Saturday’s promising performance in defeat at St Blazey when competitive football returns to Penlee Park tonight with a visit from new boys Mullion (kick-off 7.30pm).

It will be the freshly promoted side’s first league visit to the venue since the clubs fought out a goalless draw early in the 1994-95 season. The Seagulls were opponents of ours during their three-year sojourn in the old South Western League in the early 1990s, and were the highest placed of four applicants from the St Piran League’s West Division last season.

On their Peninsula League debut on Saturday, Mullion posted perhaps the stand-out result of the day (though Harry Pope’s Godolphin Atlantic might disagree!) with a 4-1 win over well-fancied Camelford. Joshua Wilson-Hone with a brace, Phil Cattran and Harry Roberts were on target, and Rob Carey’s team will certainly provide a very difficult obstacle for us this evening.

For the first time in front of their own fans, Penzance will wearing the newly introduced squad numbers. The allocations are: 1) Mikey Flores, 2) Archie Reynolds, 3) Cameron McCabe, 4) Kevin Lawrence, 5) Jordan Daniell, 6) Tyler Tonkin, 7) Jacob Trudgeon, 8) Kameron Collins, 9) Sam Buckley, 10) Darryl Richards, 11) Max Everard, 12) Alfie Turner, 14) Robertas Samnauskas, 15) Joe Gordon, 16) Ryan Andrew and 18) Silas Sullivan.

Long-time former Penzance goalkeeper Paul Williams is likely to feature for Mullion. Carey’s full squad is: Williams, Jack Sherlock, Ryan Tonkin, Luke Hunter, Harry Dark, Chris Wormington, Chris Blee, Jack Green, Paul Reynolds, Joshua Sims, George Molcher, Phil Cattran, Dan Stidwell, Harry Roberts, Jack Casley, Dan Greet and Bayley Milling.

Admission is just £5 (£3 for concessions) - Season Tickets holders go free as do the rest of their family! If you have not yet taken advantage of this amazing offer, there is still time. Check out the website for full details (www.penzanceafc.com/matchtickets). Season tickets will be on sale in the clubhouse from around 5pm, or ask at the gate.

Drinks and refreshments will be available from both the bar (which will be open around 6.30pm) and tea hut, and a full printed matchday programme will be on sale for £1.50.

See you down there!
